Come & have fun at a Terrier event with Racing, Go To Ground & Brush Hunt events.

 Our Funday is a Training, Practice & Teaching event for Terriers & their Families.


The Midwest Jack Russel Terrier Club is hosting a funday on Saturday, September 21st at 745 Vavricka Rd, Montfort WI.   All Terriers and earthdogs who measure 15” or under at the shoulders can take part in the racing and tunneling events.  All dogs of any size are welcome to play in our brush hunt event.

The schedule for the day is:

Racing begins at 9:00.  When everyone has had the opportunity to run their dogs as much as they want, we’ll ask everyone to help break down and pack away all the racing gear.

Lunch break will be taken around mid-day.  Lunch of Sloppy Joes & Chips will be provided by the event hosts, Jill & Dale Olson.   Any salads or deserts that you might like to contribute will be greatly appreciated by all.  To make sure we have enough food please text 815/970-4879 or email  blueriverjrt@gmail.com  on or before, Weds. Sept 18th to let us know your name, headcount & if you will be bringing a dish to pass.

After lunch we’ll open the tunneling and brush hunt events.  The day will wrap up around 3:30ish and it will be greatly appreciated if participants can help pack up the GTG tunnels.

Cost to play all day is $10 per dog for MWJRTC members; $20 per dog for non-members. You can pay the day of the event – cash or check.  The event fees can also be paid on the website: https://midwestjackrussellterrierclub.com, on the home page, using the Pay Now button.

Muzzles will be offered for sale at the fun day if you need to get one for your dog to race.

Limited “dry” camping will be offered apprx ¼ mile from the Funday site.  For information or reservations for these sites please contact Jill Olson, text 815/970-4879 or email blueriverjrt@gmail.com.  There are other campgrounds in the area.  The closest one that we know of is:  Black Hawk Lake Recreation Area, 608/623-2707, bhlake@mhtc.net.  That campground is apprx. 12 miles away.    

Directions:  Montfort, WI is located in Grant County the most SW county in WI.  It is located apprx. 20 miles west of Dodgeville or 22 miles north of Platteville.   Rt 18 travels east & west through Montfort.   

Coming from the East (Dodgeville) on Rt 18 to Montfort, turn Right on County Rd I, which will be the first street as you come into town, travel apprx 2 miles.  Turn Left onto Bluff Rd.  At the Stop sign, turn Right onto Vavricka Rd, travel apprx 1 mile.  We are located on the Left side of the road.  

Coming from the South (Platteville) on Rt 80 N to Montfort, at the stop sign at Rt 18, continue straight on County Rd I, travel apprx 2 miles.  Turn Left onto Bluff Rd.   At the stop sign, turn Right onto Vavricka Rd, travel apprx 1 mile.  We are located on the Left side of the road. 

From the West (Fennimore) on Rt 18 to Montfort, turn Left on to County Rd G, prior to reaching Montfort.  Travel appx 2 miles and turn Right onto Vavricka Rd, travel apprx 1 ½ miles.  We are located on the Right side of the road.
